Woonsocket State Legislative Delegation Drops Bombshell Letter to McKee Housing Secretary Deborah Goddard RE: The Dignity Bus

In a continuing display of unanimity, the entire Woonsocket State House/Senate Delegation cosigned a missive to Head Housing Honcho/McKee Appointee Deborah Goddard
“requesting immediate correspondence” to explain the “defunding” of the Dignity Bus, a source of 20 Woonsocket shelter beds. (Read Below) Citing Governor McKee’s “Commitment” to address housing for the homeless. The letter went on to point out the $15B plus budget, as a counterpoint to alleged budget shortfalls.

The elimination of support for The Dignity Bus, in addition to questions surrounding the ongoing budget issues of the OpenDoors Shelter, further illuminate the pressures being placed on The City of Woonsocket, in direct contrast to other area communities that contribute little to address what is in fact a state wide issue: growing homelessness in the urban core.
